Be sure to use Ace's latest version of the Special Skaarj Pack which doesn't have the WoE dependency. Most people couldn't run the pack because of that.

Hmmm... I cannot, for the life of me, get the A49 to overload/overheat. I've fired LOTS of ammo (somewhere over a thousand rounds; I was using an ammo regen mutator), yet the fire rate stays constant.

I'll make sure I've got the latest version, but I have a feeling this isn't on my end.

Does the rate of fire change at all? If the code is in play, it will fire a quick burst first before slowing down.

Also, are you playing online or offline?

Ah, that could be the problem - I'm effectively hosting an empty game (something I do a lot when I'm testing out Mutator combos). Still, the fire rate stays the same all the time - doesn't even have an initial burst.

Fluctuation in fire rate for the A49 is disabled online.

Why only on weekends? If it's cause you have a different computer with the compiler on it, just take the compiler from there and put that on the computer with the messed up one (after cleaning off the messed up one.) You already know that one works

Well yeah, but it's quite a hassle to send massive .uc batches back and forth over the internet. I'd much prefer to find a solution to this problem instead. Especially since some coding errors can only be solved via trail and error, a process that requires many compiles within a small timeframe. That's simply not possible unless I have a working install in front of me.

A great way to find a solution to your problem would to be list exactly what is wrong with your compiler, so that those of us with a mind to posting usefully can try to work on your problem for you.

This is not a case of mutual exclusivity. You can ask someone else to work on getting it compiled while other people help you get your end working again. That minimizes the wait for the users.

And why do you think sending files back and forth is a hassle? Archive the classes folder and all the 400+ uc files become one, easily managed archive. The source is tiny in filesize as well, would take seconds to upload and download by email.

Version 8 is not 2.5 compatible. Sgt. Kelly has released his latest v9 work in this thread, so just start looking through the pages and download that one. Also, don't forget to delete or clear BWcache.ini in your UT2004's system folder.

Bad name index almost always means one or more files is corrupt. It doesn't just refer to your dependencies in EditPackages either. If you've installed anything since the last time the compiler was working, purge it - the compiler is still the Unreal Engine and will check files for consistency, it seems.

It's a hassle in that it takes time. I'll usually compile a segment of code 10 times in about 5 minutes, something that is impossible to do when sending files back and forth. In a single day of coding, that .u might get rewritten in excess of 100 times. To accomplish anything even close to this, both users would also need to be active at the same time for an extended period of time. That also requires planning and slows down the process regardless. Let's not forget that the code also is based on the sounds and textures that I add and modify very often, so if anything new goes in that means the entire 100+MB package get transferred. It's just a logistical nightmare.

I can imagine a scenario where I send out a batch of code, you or someone else gets it and compiles it only to find a missing semi-colon somewhere, we repeat the process, .u's are swapped, I download and realize I don't like the end result, code gets rewritten, sent, more missing semi-colons, rinse, repeat, 2 hours later one of us gets bored and takes a nap.

Besides, since my .uc's also might be corrupted, I might as well just wait till the weekend to get the fixed ones, reinstall UT, and work on the generally far superior PC. I'll be taking a small break in the meantime.

.ucs will never cause Bad Name Index. A corrupt uc will give a different and more helpful error, such as missing Class definition or Classname / Filename mismatch.

The only thing that was changed before this catastrophic failure was the rewriting of all the .uc's with the updated versions stored on my external HDD. I'll upload this batch regardless to see what happens when you guys compile it.
