So this thing with Azarael started with the ABA incident?
Did I got that right that he assaulted the ABA guy (who was aking a question here) to defend MDK (the mapper of DM-AMDK-Libraire, which is the map in question) and felt that the Runestorm admins sided with them by not supporting him and deleting his posts? Which made him project his anger on you (Kelly and the others)?
After all, this part started at the EpicGames forums and there only caused a little "discontent". Although I can understand that intellectual property is something important, I do think that driving it so far was really not necessary and after all did not help anyone.
It's sad that it had to end like this. Especially under the fact that MDK himself was not that angry aswell, he called it a kind of way they show admiration for his work.

I searched it on the web but did not find it (or better: I found no working download links), so I zipped the files that I still have for you:

I havent been able to find this anywhere, but when i use the bw recolor config mutator for the tactical damage, none of the bots, nor I spawn with any weapons, and sometimes cannot pick anything up. I do use Loadout, is this an issue with that style of spawning?

I ran a DM match with Loadout and the recolors mutator. Tactical damage enabled only.

Worked just fine for me

Were you running any other muts?

i believe i had species stat, bw no ammo packs, bloody hell, and heaven of relics on.
EDIT: so i believe the problem is; if you have the "spawn with fists" disabled, it causes your weapons to disappear also.

Your weapons disappear if you don't spawn with fists? Odd, I'll have to look into that.

Also, I have found out how to add select camo patterns to guns without massively increasing texture size! Here is a gold texture I cooked up with specular and detail mapping for the SRS M2. What do you guys think?

If that's a before/after shot between 2048x2048 and 1024x1024 textures, I have to say I don't see a great deal of quality lost.

But even if the textures are that bad, I don't think the online players are going to care, they just want the map to load as quickly as possible.



I like this guy. Laser explosives is already a concept being approached with the CYLO supercharger, so he will be happy with that.

Not sure what he means about new types of gases but there are plenty of ideas for new grenades mentioned in past threads

Freezing weapons is something new, I'm thinking of a gun that sprays a super-cold liquid with an extremely low freezing point. Crystallizing whatever it touches. Doing little damage but slowing down targets so they are easier to hit with something bigger, useful against clusters of targets but requires more resourcefulness and tactics that just spraying a minigun. This could be something easily attached to an existing weapon to give it more flavor.

And then of course you have my tactical rifle idea that lets ordinary bullet hoses also call airstrikes. There's something you don't see everyday (Or should I said everygame? In real life, I am sure ground troops CAN paint targets for a bomber using lasers attached to their rifles.)

How about that freeze gun working somewhat like the Flamethrower's secondary?
Getting hit by the spray decreases your speed and stepping on the puddles would make you slide. As for actually dealing damage.... a second fire mode conjures up an ice blade you can use to melee?
And keeping a parallel with the flamethrower, getting hit in the tank on your back would freeze you.

As for new types of grenades, Resistance:Fall of Man has some interesting examples.

Dude, ballistic weapons is all about technology and the future so if a freeze gun was in bw it would be expermiental or have a kickass model and texture, and it would make a weird noise like "SWOOOSSHHH" just an example

BTW we are thinking about a freezethrower but if you Darsoul sama you can post on the ideas zone we will always look there

1: take the UT3 Stinger
2: integrate it with the BW Flamethrower
3: use Liquid nitrogen or helium as fuel source
4: allow the stinger to use fuel to form ice bullets
5: shoot ice shards and spray frost all everywhere

And it would certainly be possible to make a freeze gun, though I don't have the faintest idea how.

it would be like a concentrated fire type thing, like when someone gets hit with a bullet in bw they go back a bit well, that idea could be applied with freeze gun, say like it would slow them down and they'd have an aura around them similar to the flame throwers gas secondary fire, and i would damage them, then somehow keep the ragdoll mode from tuning on so they stay in a frozen state for about 10 seconds then turn ragdoll mode on, that will make them fall to the ground,

The freeze ray should be like a grenade launcer though because it would be overpowered as a flame thrower type gun

imagine firing a concentrated shell of liquid nitrogen at someone, they'd get chilly for sure

and have the gun only 1 round per shot so its like a hamr shell, and 1.5 times the radius of the bort grenade launcher.

i'll draw a concept art of the gun today but all i can resemble it to is the mass effect 2 freeze gun, thats kinda the idea im going for

I hope one of those energy weapons fires the BFG secondary like the XR4 does. I friggen love the pewpewpewpew but the BFG always explodes in my face and the XR4 will never be born.

As for the freezegun, the logical place to start would be the flamethrower secondary and how it attaches a "flammable" property to players

I'd look to see if you can do more than that and attach other kinds of properties too, such as one that modifies the BW Pawns speed.

I recall a UT2004 gametype that let you freeze people, as well as other weapon packs that had freeze guns. check them out

I can't predict if the freezethrower would be more or less overpowered by being like the flamethrower but I cannot imagine it kicking more ass than what the FF already does. Considering that the idea i was going for was a liquid-spraying type weapon that actually doesn't do that much damage but slows down movement.

How much you can slow your target would depend on how long you can concentrate your fire. Stop hitting your target and it eventually speeds back up.

Targets would have a chance to counter the attack just as they have a chance to counter a FF fuel attack.

But how would it work as a grenade launcher? Do the grenades blast super cold gas everywhere? (Which sounds like a good secondary fire BTW)

I think it was just a game type, not special weapons.

they have a freeze gun in chaos ut2 called the mug. It could switch ammo type from Fire to Ice. Might want to look there for a starter.

There's a freeze gun in Unreal 4 Ever called the Freezer.
A gun that works similar would be cool.

I don't remember seeing that mod... But, there are a few freeze tag servers. They use the ONS Rifle mod, I think.. but instead of plasma bullets, they're ice bullets.

What about doing the freezing when health reaches 1? It's the same as killing, but if the frozen melts in time they'll have a chance to get away. If not, then shatter! Though, I wonder if this also could be done on monsters.

Has anyone ever played Hexen or Duke Nukem 3D, or even Rocket Crowbar before? Surely those could inspire a bit for the prototypes.
