While it would be kinda cool to be able to throw the grenades, there just simply would be no time, no matter how you worked it out.

Its hard enough to kick the grenades and stay out of the blast radius.

...k, trunkmonkey if people dont have bw then how would they be kicking bw grenades anyway? they wouldnt have an action or reload key either....or special are you going to post about that too?

if they wouldnt have the action key bind then they probly dont have ut2004 caues ut2004 has an action

Meh, I personally haven't tried kicking any nades, I prefer to dodge-jump out of their blast radius asap, b/c I know I always arm them till at least 1/2 fuse, so why wouldn't the other players?

my 2 cents:

People can play on a BW server without having installed the mutator because the files are downloaded and stored in the cache folder. However, since the mutator is installed, the client-side settings are at defaults and the keys cannot be setup through the GUI. If you know the console command, you can set inputs that way, but that cannot be expected.

Until having read this forum, I was kinda hooked on the grenade handling in "return to Castle Wolfinstein" where, if you toss a potato masher (old german grenade on a stick) at an enemy, it might run up to the grenade and kick it away. I have another thought to add, which is that you could dive for it. I can, for example, catch a low frisbee throw by lunging for it, rolling on my left side, push myself up with my feet, and toss it with my right hand. This is not all too controlled, but it could be kinda neat. You could even play with the 1st person camera to simulate the rolling. As for controls, maybe you get within grabbing range of the grenade, hit your "use" key, and aim as you automatically throw (or use trigger to throw). While we're at it, why not have the player drop his/her gun, which is the fastest way I can think of to free up some hands.

One last thought. Instead of kicking it while you're sprinting, how about kicking it while you dodge? Kinda makes since, since you're flying through the air by dodging anyways and anybody can do it whether they have any keys set or not.

First off, not everyone uses dodging, plus you're off the ground when dodging.

But I think sprint should be able to automatically in addition to use key kicking. I don't think that should be changed.

The diving idea is cool, but that'd be kind hard to program in, don't you think? DC'd have to code it so your player more or less lands in the proper place fairly consistently, plus you'd have to get the aim right so you'd be able to roll around and still get the view pointing in the right direction.

It would be pretty cool though, and I think might be a pretty good way to implement throwing, although I'm not too sure about the dropping of your guns, while logically that would be what'd happen, it would really kind of put you at a disadvantage; not only are you risking your butt in an attempt to get the grenade away from team mates (the likelihood of using that grenade to kill whoever threw it is very slim), you also lose your weapons. Seems a bit unfair to me, despite how much it makes sense.

Hmm... if this was to be implemented, the weapon drop could be optional! That fixes everything.

Diving would be pointless. Let's move on to better ideas.

Meele with grenade! Run up to your opponent and smash the grenade into his face or backside, and maybe it could stick onto him, then activate and explode (would be great fun for the pineapple) and i'd be cool to have the bots go insane and run around unable to get the grenade off of themselves once tagged.

If RS will one day add the melee attack key, I bet the grenades will have that ability; to be swung.

Yep. Tagging someone with a grenade in Gears is fun as heck. On one level, i was playing co-op with my friend, this wrenches creature runs at us, my friend tags him. I say "RUN!", and a second later we both die.

The only sticky grenade I have ever used was in Worms 3D.

unfortunately i started this thread thinking of the sprint kicking taking the place of the action button kicking rather than coexisting with it and serving as an active alternative

anyway to get things back on track again...running towards the grenade is difficult enough so cutting out the action button and allowing it to all be controlled through the sprint key makes things easier and more relexive

Yeah, it does, but it cuts out the ease of use of kicking a grenade back that hit you in the forehead or landed within leg's reach.

I would like to see that instead of having to sprint to kick the grenade, that we could just run at the thing with normal run to kick it. And of course, the use key kicking could be useful if you are standing and shooting and a grenade lands at your feet.... Hey, wouldnt it be cool if you could jump on a grenade to prevent it from hurting others?

If regular running did it too, that might be a little unbalancing for those that aren't very skilled with the grenades, you could easily deflect the grenades simply by jogging to them, not too sure about that.

I do like the idea for jumping on the grenade though, that'd be something to see, probably something I'd do even, assuming my power armor is ready by then.

Then maybe eventually give you the ability to throw an ally (or enemy too, I guess) on the ground and maybe have them cover the grenade or avoid enemy fire. Whichever you prefer.

That way your team mate could get a Medal of Honour or you can keep the enemy from getting killed by your frag stealing team mate (Who, coincidently, just received a Medal of Honour with much reluctance ).

Of course, this is something that would be more suited towards adding on a better engine.

I think the idea of just sprinting at it with >50% fatigue left would make it so much more usable.



Wouldn't that be a little unbalanced? Though I like the idea of covering a grenade.

Worms 3D isn't everything it could have been, but it doesn't suck. It's actually one of the best 3D transitions I've seen in a long time (ie: it feels exactly the same as the older versions).

The feeling is there, but what I hated is how little the developers did to make it extendable.

And whoever decided to ditch the minigun needs to be punished.
