With all these new weapons (especially the staves and cannon) i've been thinking that loadout could do with the option to limit weapon numbers.

Basicly, the game keeps track of who has what, and only allows a certain number of various weapons in the map at once. To get around the problem of people respawning and dropping weapons, the loadout menu appears when you die and you cant respawn until you hit OK.

There should be no limits on grenades, melee, most pistols and some of the assault rifles and shotguns.

What do you think? Is this even implementable?

Well, how loadout is right now is how players wanted it to be

I even thought it was a bug that you could change weapon so easily without having to die 'cause it's really cheating sometimes.

If you want to limit them, then there will be some desadvantages between players who get the best weapons.
Then, rather remove them, and you can do so with the BW option menu.

I think it would be cool to have a split loadout/evolution loadout for asymmetrical teams, like in the gametype.

Right, like one team can pick from one set of weapons, and the other team could pick from another set of weapons.

I think asymmetry is not the right word, more of unbalanced or uneven.
But still got the point, and yeah that's would be fun to have.

it is highly unlikely this qualifies as balanced,but you could have it like some sort of 'corperation wars',you can already do this in conflict though.

Exept for few weapons that are nearly the same (i.e. the staves) the gameplay would be quite unballanced.
But true, switching weapons while you're still alive can be cheating.

Well, sometimes unbalanced play could be what you want. I play BW offline, so it won't piss anyone off. I could make my team all downtrodden underdogs with crappy weapons, fighting "the man."

But really, it would be up to the player how balanced it is. It could be a matter of different weapons with similar functions, or maybe as simple as both teams get the same assault rifle, but different sidearms.

BW is completely unbalanced to begin with. All you would have to worry about is making sure you don't put all the overpowered weapons on one side (AM67, Lightning gun, etc.) and the weak weapons (XK2, M806, etc.) on the other.

Well, there's still a drawback to overpowered weapons, they're really slow.
Sometimes it's easier to kill with a weak weapon.

Well, it all depends of how poeple plays with weapons actually.

The players themselves matter too. Giving the n00bs overpower and the pros underpower would probably result in the victory of the pros, especially after the Mk9's big change in v2.1

As I see it, there is no real 'fair' way of splitting the guns into two sets. You either give up and don't bother; or find the balance that you personaly like the best.

Pointless bickering over the best way of splitting up the weapons will get no one anywhere.

Well, rather than limit it you can simply establish a rule (players would have to respect it on their own)
Where the pros have the weak weapons and the other can take the strong one !

It's a first (no change) solution for poeple playing on servers

The honor system really doesn't work for the most part. I myself avoid using weapons I consider overpowered*, but there's nothing I can do to prevent others from abusing the really lame crap (FP9 spam, dual-AM67, those goddamned staves, etc.).


*The Hedsteem vCTF server is the exception. Way too chaotic and vehicle-heavy to even think about your weapon selection there.

The team with the more powerful guns will be giving the others a harder time.

The staves are annoying, right but you can still remove weapons from game in the BW options.
Well, I find the dual fifty-9 more deadly than the AM67 actually, I don't really like the AM67 so...
I don't remember what weapon is the FP9 ? How is it spammed ?

FP9 are the grenades afaik.

FP7s are the incendiary grenades. The FP9s are the tripmines/remote explosives. By spamming them, I'm referring to the practice of tossing and detonating them in close quarters, which guarantees an instant kill and gets old really fast. You can do the same with the Pineapple, but effective Pineapple spam takes a bit more skill and timing, so I can accept it.

When I first heard of grenade spams(nasty with T10s)it involved setting the grenade to 'long toss' and... Tossing a ton without 'cooking' the nades.
